EXCELLENT Based on 55 reviews Posted on Google Phil KoschitzkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Doug was fantastic. An instructor needs balance between assertiveness and tolerance "....more right rudder....now you're getting it". He was able to get me in the air and having a ball and certainly made the whole operation most enjoyable. "Virtual Doug" is still with me every flight, watching over me, and reminding me of the next step. Thank you for doing a splendid job.Posted on Google Seona MacDonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. In over 25 years of flying and training with various different instructors I have to say that Doug Field of Stick’n’Rudder is by far the best teacher I’ve worked with so far. If you have the slightest desire to discover what it’s like to fly a plane, tailwheel or otherwise, choose this experience - there’s nothing out there that compares. Doug blends exceptional professionalism with a warm and welcoming teaching style that had me feeling safe, settled and ready to learn new skills within a few seconds of meeting him. Doug’s style is not one that’s easy to find. Neither is the extent of his generosity, which included a very valuable pre-learning online course (tailwheel training) that is very conservatively priced. His feel for flying is coded into his DNA. He is able to transfer this “seat of the pants” skill to new/rusty pilots by teaching a unique blend of aerodynamics and human psychology (the “why”) that makes it so much easier for the harder concepts to click. The only distraction was, of course, the stunning scenery that we flew through. Sunshine Coast on the ground is one thing, but from the air … to die for 💓 We even executed a perfect landing (thanks Doug 😉) on the beautiful bush strip adjoining the Archerfalls Cubby House for hot chocolate muffins and coffee. (You can rent this cosy cabin through Hipcamp or Airbnb - it’s the perfect prophead paradise 🤗). All in all, this experience was the best birthday present I recall in a very long time. As a (very) rusty pilot, this was the most exciting and impactful part of my plan so far for getting back in the air on a regular basis. Nothing like a Piper Super Cub, and the culture behind it, to re-awaken one’s wings 🦋 Thank you Doug, for this amazing experience.Posted on Google Greg McBethTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent Business, I just finished three days of tailwheel and off field landings with Doug to freshen up my skills and had an amazing time. Doug‘s knowledge and tail wheel experience is second to none. He was able to trim my plane to perfection. Great accommodation at archer Falls was excellent.Posted on Google Muhammad MumtazTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently came across Stick n Rudder and was genuinely impressed. It’s nice to see an aviation marketplace that actually feels like it’s run by people who understand flying, not just another generic classifieds website. The aircraft listings are put in front of a real aviation-focused audience. If you’re selling a tailwheel aircraft, it feels like it’s reaching the right people, not just random browsers. It has more of a community feel rather than a sales platform, which I really like. If you’re into proper flying or looking to buy or sell something a bit special, it’s definitely worth a look.Posted on Google Graeme HurringTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A Flight Training Experience Like No Other – Doug Field, Stick and Rudder, Caboolture QLD After logging quite a few hours at a local flight school in Victoria and passing my RPL theory exam, life did what life does — it got in the way. When I finally decided to get serious again, I knew I wanted more than just a couple of hours a week trickling toward my RPL and tailwheel endorsement. I wanted to commit, immerse myself, and actually get it done. That's when I found Doug Field at Stick and Rudder in Caboolture. From the moment I paid my deposit, Doug had everything in motion. He set me up with an online tailwheel course to complete before I arrived, guided me through getting my ASIC card sorted, and helped me get my photo ID registered with CASA — all before I even set foot on the airfield. He then booked me into a focused two-week course and arranged fantastic accommodation nearby (which, brilliantly, has its own airstrip). What followed was the best flight training I have ever done. Doug is patient, knowledgeable, and has a genuine gift for teaching. He had me flying by the seat of my pants — in the best possible way — building real instinct and feel for the aircraft that I simply hadn't developed before. If you're serious about learning to fly properly and want an instructor who is equally serious about your success, I can't recommend Doug highly enough. Now I just need to sit my PPL test — and I'll absolutely be heading back to Caboolture for more tailwheel fun.Posted on Google GaryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Finally a marketplace that understands tailwheel aircraft.Posted on Google Ed SellwoodTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bi-annual flight review time always brings the opportunity for new challenges. They say there’s not a lot that homes airmanship and stick and rudder control quite like flying a tail wheel- so time it was for a new design feature endorsement it was as well! Flying with Doug Field at Stick and Rudder was an excellent choice, great pilot, great teacher, great guy. The picturesque Glass House Mountains as a back drop made it spectacular too! Do yourself a favour- if you are thinking about it- do it!Posted on Google Michael StephensTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Douglas Field has provided a reliable, professional and friendly service in the sale of my aircraft. I would highly recommend stick n rudder for any of your aviation needs.
